In our society where over-surveillance by people and things are prevalent, the stalls in the public toilets remain one of the few private spaces left. When we turn the lock behind us in a stall – whether located in an airport or a shopping mall – we gain a rare moment of solitude. In that brief privacy, what “secrets” do we discard and flush away, as if they never existed?

* Unfortunately, in many public toilets in North America, due to how the stalls are built, complete privacy is still a privilege not afforded to everyone – so let’s set those aside here.
