Program Note
Silichin Valley was an ancient capital located in what is now the Golden Bear Republic. During the peak of the metropolis, the rulers rewarded instant gratifications for the minds of people dependable to the system, conditioning them to want everything immediately. The human brain has evolved to feel first and think later. This addiction to dopamine hit had no ends, and the already-dystopian society rushed into self-obliteration without realization.
On Composition
Silichin Valley was composed between November 2017 and March 2018 in Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Dresden. During the video shoot in California, deep learning technology was employed to recognize and replace the cars in the footage with a variety of computer-generated images of penises. Surprisingly, this process also generated images of faucets.
The video version of the work was uploaded to a pornographic website by an audience member without the composer's consent in 2018. However, as of 2022, the video has since been deleted as "the account was not verified". Additionally, the video and score of Silichin Valley has been exhibited at The Icelandic Phallological Museum.
It is worth noting that this work has faced censorship while performing in several countries, largely due to decisions made by concert organizers.
